In March 2021 Teamnetwork built a new gaseous nitrogen transport line for the inerting of the dried sludge silo at the Holcim (Italia) plant in Ternate.
The new high-flow system is designed to feed the users that operate with nitrogen as their process fluid, ensuring the passage of the process fluid - stored in the cryogenic tank at a temperature of -196 °C - into the new distribution line.
The whole distribution line was built in LOW CARBON AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL - AISI 304L SCHEDULE 40.
The pipework was sized taking the following aspects into account:
- Guaranteeing the required Qmax (maximum flow rate) of 810 m³/h.
- Guaranteeing a constant N2 delivery pressure of around 7-9 bar (measured on arrival at each user point).
- Determining the maximum fluid velocity, at the required flow rate and pressure, so as to operate under safe conditions (VN2 ≤ 25 m/s).
The joint welds were carried out by qualified and certified personnel.
Once the work was complete, the pipework was tested at a pressure of PS x 1.43 in accordance with the PED Directive, CAT. 1*.
