Heavy Lifting Equipment: 5-ton jib crane

Supply and installation of a 5-ton port jib crane for launching boats at the Port of Calais, France.

In October 2021 TNW, working with its French partner, delivered, assembled and commissioned for the Calais port authority a port crane with a working boom length of 11 m, an overall height of 10 m and a lifting capacity of 5 tons guaranteed along the entire length of the boom.

The counterweighted slewing crane (electric rotation +/- 90° - 180°) is suitable for handling two types of boat:

boats up to 6.40 m long and 2.55 m high, weighing 1.45 tons

boats up to 9.45 m long, 3.32 m high, weighing 3.5 tons.

The structure was built and pre-assembled at the TNW operating unit in Gazzaniga, in sections suitable for abnormal load transport by truck.

During fabrication, particular attention was paid to the surface protection cycle chosen for the machine, designed to withstand highly corrosive marine environments.
